Taking GPMG drills into every day life

May 14, 2025

The GPMG or General Purpose Machine Gun has been in service since the 1960s in the British forces and chances are if you served in that window you would have had hands on at some point.

It is an awesome bit of kit that is basic in design and just unbelievable in both the light role (pictured) and in the SF role when it is a tripod.

Now think back to all those years ago when you were firing it.

At times and when you had had enough time on it you could tell that the gun was either firing too fast or too slow (I am that guy who comments on all action films)!

Now if the gun is firing too fast, the chances are that ammunition will expire far quicker and ultimately in time damage to the gun.

Firing too slow, would mean that the rate of rounds leaving the gun were not enough and ultimately may not help troops in the open.

So we alter the gas parts accordingly to find that sweet spot and make the gun sing to us (for those of you who know you know).

Giving you a very happy Gun and ultimately happy troops on the ground as they have their supporting fire if the need arises.

NOW THINK ABOUT YOUR BODY AS A GPMG

We all have moments in life when we are going far too fast and spinning too many plates.

  1. Business is thriving
  2. Keeping fit
  3. Taking the family out
  4. Walking the dog

Or we have moments when we are not doing enough to maintain all elements of our life and again things may break.

So why not alter your metaphorical gas parts and find a rate of fire that is sustainable for the long time and not just a few days. One that will enable you to be consistent and keep not only you happy but all the stake holders in your life happy.
